This is the moment a rescued bear family took their first steps outside together.
After more than a decade trapped in a filthy backyard cage in Yerevan, Aram, Nairi and their cub Lola were finally rescued by our partners, FPWC, in 2025. Many of you gave so generously to help make their rescue possible, and now you can see the incredible difference your compassion has made.
Since their rescue, the family has been in quarantine at FPWC’s rescue center, receiving expert care and recovering from years of neglect. And now, for the very first time, they have been allowed out of quarantine and into an outdoor enclosure filled with enrichment activities to help them explore, play and begin to live as bears should.
Watching them step onto the earth, feel the sun on their fur and take in the world around them after so long behind bars was truly overwhelming. Little Lola, born in captivity, had never known what it meant to walk freely until this moment.
To everyone who supported their rescue appeal - this is what you made possible. You gave this family their freedom, their safety and their second chance at life.
