An acoustic cover of Repentance by Dream Theater, from their album 'Systematic Chaos'.
This was the first soft/ballad song I heard from Dream Theater, and it definitely struck a chord (pun intended) when I first heard it! It's got a darker, moody feel compared to most rock ballads, which can often sound cheesy.
It's no secret that I'm very influenced by Dream Theater and they are one of my all time favourite bands, so I definitely have to pay tribute to them with a cover or two!
When each member of DT are such talented musicians, it's a bit daunting to try and tackle one of their songs! On top of that, this is originally a 7 string song, which I had to arrange for a 6 string acoustic (which was actually surprisingly easily)! Luckily this is an easier one, since Petrucci doesn't go completely insane nor does LaBrie sing crazy high, so I thought it was the perfect song to practice my acoustic playing and softer singing.
I am by no means a great vocalist, but I still want to practice my vocals, so if you do choose to leave a harsh comment or some criticism, at least tell me how I can improve, and I hope you still enjoy this cover!
