Remote ID Thoughts and Observations Oct 2, 2023
In this video I will go over some thoughts and observations on remote ID. It has been a little over two weeks since the FAA extended the remote ID compliance date from Sept 16, 2023 to March 16, 2024. This six month period will give everyone (modelers, manufacturers and the FAA) time to regroup and ensure that the roll out of remote ID is done properly.
The FAA is doing some outreach on social media over the remote ID process. I think this is a very good thing. Recently the FAA put out an hour long video interview on remote ID, see link below:

The video is an interview and discussion between Kevin Morris (FAA drones), Greg Reverdian (Pilot Institute) and Keith from Alien Drones. A range of topics are discussed to include grandfathering older drones,exceptions to remote ID rules and FRIA approval status. All benefit from watching this informative video.
The one area I am interested to see evolve is the fact there are a lot of recreational drones pilots who state they will not comply with the remote ID rule. This is a very new situation for the FAA, who has assumed up to now that all pilots voluntarily agree to observe and follow FAA regulations.
