I'm a big fan of the youtube channel 'The Critical Drinker'. After learning The Drinker wrote books under his real name it was inevitable I would have to check one out and where better to start than the beginning! Redemption is the first book in the Ryan Drake series that is a military thriller very much in the style of Andy McNab (although the cover compares itself to David Baldacci). Ryan is an ex-SAS soldier now working for the CIA when he is asked to rescue a prison from a Russian prison. The prisoner is Anya an ex-CIA operative herself and the two travel through the middle east in order to uncover an old secret.
