This time I went around a little further but used the same antenna setup I had last video so the video is still overall crap. I'm not using an omnidirectional receiver antenna AFAIK either so for better signal I would realistically have it out in the open, as high as possible, and maybe facing toward the car if it was a directional beam. I didn't like recording the screen from my phone because it made it look worse, but now using the DVR I see my audio quality is horrible likely due to the signal amplitude being too high for it. It does however sound good using headphones so IDK how I'm going to work that out. I can hear everything clearly in the feed but it's pointless having the audio in the DVR unless I can fix it. The fans are also mainly what the mic picks up and it can't really be avoided without ditching them. Maybe resistor divider the output from the receiver and just crank the goggles volume all the way up to compensate.

I can apparently get more range than I thought with this setup, but it's with a horrible signal the entire time. I assumed I couldn't go half this far because of the feed quality but it more or less just stays crappy and never really gets exponentially worse until I put way more obstructions in the way. Sometimes the reflections are interesting in that there are spots I can get good signal sitting still with maybe the most LOS obstructions. I'll have to keep trying to go out farther and farther to see the point of no return, but I really need to figure out how to get my signal quality a whole lot better in the short range. I'm only able to drive with it looking so bad because I'm a little familiar with the area.
I also keep forgetting that my new front camera looks slightly out of focus, but if it were then the images would look a lot more crisp. With the camera focused and the feed looking clear, it's not too far off some the lower end HD out there. If I can get the quality much better just in the short range I went in this video then that would be good enough for me given the obstructions involved.

Got some gigantic culverts running along the street out there I want to send a car in to investigate and possibly scare the crap out of somebody laying graffiti... but both of my cars get stuck on the ribs of the pipe, and I'd probably need special antennas to get signal far enough in there.
