I wanted to do this on at least one car and bought some 1.5" LCD TFT w/driver board from Aliexpress. I ended up putting that on the Fireteam.
Then I saw some cheap dashcam so I got that too. The dashcam ends up looking better because of the software and maybe the angle and O3 FPV but I'd say both can be made to look about the same. It's not crystal clear but lets me see well enough. The issue is how the FPV camera is going to handle the light thrown from the LCD screen. It can become washed out without something helping it.
With the cheap dash cam I had to remove the front camera and do some work to make only the LCD screen top mounted with everything else under the body. The only benefit was I could use the rear camera that came with it.
With the cheap TFT screen I bought I just had to hook up my own analog FPV camera.
Total perspective is really the point here. With the Typhon I don't want to be having to look too hard through a small mirror to tell whether or not a car is behind me while going high speeds. That worked before but now it can go over 60mph so I want something easier to see.
With the Fireteam it's just that I don't have enough perspective using only a rear view mirror.
