Randy Moss Pretends to Pull Down His Pants at Packers Fans 😂
During the fourth quarter of the NFC Wild Card playoff game on January 9, 2005, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss celebrated a game-sealing touchdown by pretending to moon the Green Bay Packers crowd at Lambeau Field.
After catching a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Daunte Culpepper to give the Vikings a commanding 31-17 lead, Moss trotted over to the base of the end zone goalpost. He turned his back to the Packers fans in the stands, bent over, and mimed pulling down his pants to fake-moon the crowd. He capped off the quick celebration by doing a light shimmy and rubbing his backside against the padding of the goalpost. At no point did Moss actually remove any clothing or expose himself.
The celebration became legendary largely due to the highly indignant live call by Fox play-by-play announcer Joe Buck. Visibly appalled by the gesture, Buck announced to millions of viewers: “That is a disgusting act by Randy Moss. And it's unfortunate that we had it on our air live. That is disgusting by Randy Moss.”
Buck's intense reaction drew immediate widespread attention, with many fans and analysts later viewing it as a massive overreaction to a harmless, quick prank.
Moss later revealed that the fake mooning was direct retaliation for a long-standing Green Bay tradition. He explained that Packers fans routinely lined up to physically moon the visiting team's bus as it arrived at or left Lambeau Field. Having seen "about 10 white asses" pressed against the hill on the drive in, Moss decided to give them a taste of their own medicine once he scored.
The NFL was not amused by the gesture and fined Moss $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. When reporters later asked him if he had written a check to cover the league's penalty, Moss shrugged it off and delivered another iconic pop-culture quote: "Straight cash, homie."
