My first time to the famous Oakland Jack London Square was a rather interesting one. It's too much to type but I'll just say that we were six (6) hours late arriving into Oakland. A BNSF freight train broke down on single track in Fresno which made Amtrak 713 and 715 late so we just combined trains to make a double set, which is seen in the video. And the two star Oakland Jack London Inn lived up to its rating... Though the railfanning was awesome which made up for all the other not so awesome stuff. The first train I saw walking to the Inn had CDTX 2013 on point, which is my favorite so that was cool to see. It was also cool to get some night trains since I really don't do that too often. Then I woke up to CDTX 8306 blasting it's P5 horn so I ran outside and got it departing the station. After that, I got a UP switcher running down the street with a geep leading with the best 1st gen K5HL I have heard. I was very surprised when I heard it. Coast Starlight 11 also pulled in to the station with a nice engineer. Got a few UP freight trains as well which was a nice filler for time when no Amtrak trains were around. It was also cool to get the MOAOA racing Amtrak in the morning. I hope to return here soon but not spend the night... Enjoy part 1 of railfanning Oakland!
