March 20, 2014, I had a golf date in Pleasanton, CA. Between my home and the course lie Newark and Fremont, places where I could shoot video of Amtrak's Capitol Corridor and Altamont Corridor Express trains. The logo on the side of the ACE cars say "Altamont Commuter Express" but the website now says "Corridor", a change made a couple of years ago.
I left home at 6:30am, grabbed a stimulant at Starbuck's and headed across the Dumbarton Bridge. The first stop was at the Mowery Avenue crossing of UP's Coast Line where I caught a westbound Capitol Corridor. I next headed east to the Fremont station on UP's Centerville line. There I caught both Capitol Corridor and ACE trains with an unexpected ten car UP freight making an appearance. Finally, I returned to Mowery where the Coast Starlight and two more Capitol Corridor trains passed. Following the round of golf, I was fortunate to get a shot of eastbound ACE #4 headed back to Stockton on UP's Canyon Subdivision.
