This whiteboard video on quality improvement (QI) in health care was created in 2014, and many of its core ideas—systems thinking, testing changes, and learning from data—remain foundational to quality improvement. The field has continued to evolve, however. Since this video was made, quality improvement has placed much greater emphasis on partnering with patients, addressing health equity, implementation science, clinician well-being, digital health, and sustainability. Think of this video as the first chapter and stay tuned for more about system improvement here and on our Evans Health Lab Substack.
