Anyone who's spent time in the ED has asked this question — so in this video from 2017, I pull back the curtain on why the wait happens and how the system actually decides who gets seen first. The ED isn't a walk-in clinic or a restaurant with a line; it's connected to a huge web of specialists, labs, and imaging, and it runs on triage that recognizes treating the most urgent cases first saves more lives than a first-come, first served model.
