This is a review of the QCX-mini transceiver produced and sold by the QRPLabs company. This CW-only Ham Radio transceiver is a unique little radio packed in a small box but featuring the big radio's specs and performance! The QCX-mini under test in this review was factory-built and aligned 20M band version but it is also available in kit form. I liked the performance of the QCX-mini because of its very low-noise floor receiver, solid 5W power output transmitter and a very well-functioning QSK system. This transceiver has got no internal antenna tuner , so the resonant well-tuned antenna is preferred. I was using my specially designed 20m mono-band End Fed Half Wave wire antenna.
If you are interested (as I am) in the transceiver design, it might be very interesting to see (to listen to ,actually!) the famous Tayloe detector in work. I was pleasantly surprised!
