3D FPS arcade action in 1993? With link support for multiple cabinets? Cool! Too bad multiplayer mode is pretty much the only way to seriously enjoy this game, as the single player-mode turns into a 1v3 that becomes a hilarious slaughterfest when 30 seconds are left and they get rid of all the walls so everybody can shoot the fuck out of you. Neat for what it is, but does get kinda repetitive anyway...

Before we start officially covering games released in 1992, as is tradition I like to start by flipping the script and talking for a bit about games that WERE popular in 1992, or at least have attained a newfound legacy in the time since they were released. Much talk (and even some playing) of Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition, and the bootleg rom hacks that became prevalent, and Mortal Kombat! And a buncha other games too. Concluding at the end with a 1CC attempt on Total Carnage because I felt like i hadnt played it on stream in a while, and this was the perfect excuse to bust out that long-ass game. Howd it go? When this Genesis shmup came out ~35 years ago, I got baited by all the good reviews the game got in magazines, saying it was the most amazing game ever. I ended up renting it, and... I didnt even get past stage 2. It was more difficult than I expected, and having to do those checkpoints over and over without any sense of progress was incredibly frustrating. It was a wasted rental for me.
But I certainly feel like Im better at shmups now than I was 35 years ago! Am I up to the Gaiares (Guy-Are-Us) challenge?!
