the US version of Poly-Net Warriors was different enough that I thought it should be included as its own video. All the cutesy scrimblos have been replaced by tanks, with an announcer constantly screaming at you. Instead of getting more kills than the enemy, you have to meet quotas in each phase to clear the stage, and again it feels like the game gets too hard way too fast. Also the music is better. Still... why are these games so damn hard

When this Genesis shmup came out ~35 years ago, I got baited by all the good reviews the game got in magazines, saying it was the most amazing game ever. I ended up renting it, and... I didnt even get past stage 2. It was more difficult than I expected, and having to do those checkpoints over and over without any sense of progress was incredibly frustrating. It was a wasted rental for me.
But I certainly feel like Im better at shmups now than I was 35 years ago! Am I up to the Gaiares (Guy-Are-Us) challenge?!
