Here's another game where i get unlucky at a crucial early point...but manage to come back through playing well in the second half of the game.
Specifically, teokop bid the exact amount of money for $21 that i could pay while affording a 5th city that turn (which would make use of my green plant). The market stalled hard after i passed on it, and i thought i was doomed. You can tell from my constant swearing in this game!
The key decisions that turned it around for me were getting 16 and deciding to make it an endgame plant, bidding 25 up to a good price for teokop before landing 26 at cost, and relying entirely on trash for my Step 3 plants. You'd be surprised at how often you can keep those crappy 3-cap plants the whole way in 2P...5-3 enables you to win in Step 3 with just a 6 & a 7, which is very reasonable.
Oh yeah, and i was quite lucky that my miscalculation on the turn where i triggered Step 2 didn't lose it for me! Buying 1 resource too many meant i couldn't build New Orleans or Miami, costing me a net $10 to my opponent (-$5 for me, +$5 for them).
