A 5-player game on a weeknight in US time? A welcome surprise on BSW these days! France isn't the most common choice for these either, so this is a treat!
In this game i took the standard 5-player strat (pay for big plants & don't worry too much about short-term money) to the most absurd extreme possible. Hell, i could only afford 3 cities by the time we reached Step 2! This probably would've worked on a cheaper map, but on Germany we actually made it to the Step 3 auction well before i could end it. My own damn fault for not adjusting to the map, and my last-place finish was well deserved.
This was another great performance from Stein, making his efficiency love work in the format least friendly to it. Again, the Germany map was what made this possible, as the game was not making it to Step 3 if cities were cheaper. Really underestimated that when discussing his chances of winning!
5P is often considered the worst format for Power Grid by veteran players, so i was very glad to get a game that goes against that narrative a bit.
