On December 28, 2024. An officer from the Cuba City Police Department was dispatched to a fight in progress at a Kwik Trip. When the officer arrived, a store employee and customer appeared to be restraining a male (Nikalas) who was bleeding from the face. They advised that there was a fight and one of the subjects involved was no longer on scene. EMS was called and Nikalas stated that he and his friend Tyler were at the bar earlier in the night. Tyler became upset about a past relationship and got into an argument with Nikalas outside of the Kwik Trip. Nikalas then said Tyler turned around and punched him in the face. While waiting for EMS to arrive, Tyler entered the Kwik Trip with his hands in the air, and admitted to punching Nikalas. The officer asked Tyler to step outside to ask further questions. Tyler agreed but kept his hands raised even after being told multiple times he could put them down if he wanted to. He stated that he was a marine so his hands were “technically lethal.” Tyler said he was drinking at the bar with Nikalas and his girlfriend when they suddenly left. Tyler said he followed them and Nikalas pushed him. He said he pushed Nikalas back and held his arms down. He said he let Nikalas go before he began pushing him again. Tyler said he then punched Nikalas in the face, took his phone, and went to his parents house to tell them what had happened. Due to the injuries that Nikalas received, he was transported to the hospital. Nikalas’s mother was also on scene and told the officer that Tyler came storming into her house saying that their friendship is over. The mother said that Tyler told her that he bought Nikalas two bottles of vodka and that he is a recovering alcoholic. Tyler was informed that he would be placed under arrest for substantial battery, he was very cooperative and secured in handcuffs. A search of his person did not reveal anything of evidentiary value. Tyler was placed in the rear of a squad car and agreed to a PBT which showed he had a BAC of .175. Tyler was transported to the Grant County Jail and released to the jail staff. Tyler was found guilty for battery. He was ordered not to consume any alcohol or have any contact with Nikalas. Tyler was ordered to pay restitution and $355 in court costs. Nikalas was found guilty for disorderly conduct and ordered to pay a $263 fine.
