1997 PG&E commercial says you can count on our 100,000 miles of power lines and the maintenance we perform on them.

In 1997, utility deregulation was starting and PG&E was transitioning from being a power supplier to being a power delivery company. So here they are advertising their new role and how they are very well suited for it because they've been doing it for decades.

Deregulation didn't go so well because of a poorly designed system and Wall Street traders intentionally gaming the system to drive up power prices. PG&E was left holding the bag and filed for bankruptcy a few years after. They have since recovered.

This spot aired during KRON's show "Sit Down with Gary Radnich" directly after the 5th game of the Baseball World Series on NBC on October 23rd, 1997.
