What a festive treat it is to have brand new, sound fitted 57xx Pannier Tank by Accurascale visit the layout. Straight out of the box the range of characteristic sounds and synchronisation with the wheels is very pleasing.
Build quality is also excellent with these - they’re highly detailed but feel solid. Being Accurascale models, I was fully expecting a myriad of loose bits in the box to be honest, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find each of these locos to be in one piece.
The only issue was that all of the brass wiper pick ups had to be adjusted as neither loco would move more than an inch before jerking to an abrupt halt - not great for a premium model railway product! Adjustment was a straight forward fix though, and with this done they both run as sweet as the sweetest of nuts. Slow speed control is exceptional.
Nice details are provided in separate bags including numberplates, bufferbeam pipes and some lamps. The latter are a one piece plastic mouliding with silver painted lenses so will be swapped for ModelU versions.
These little locos really look and sound the part. To be perfect though they are both crying out for some careful weathering.
