A woman was killed and a man critically injured in a single-vehicle crash just after midnight Wednesday at Ella Boulevard and Pinemont Drive in northwest Houston. According to Houston police, a blue Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Ella around 12:16 a.m. when the driver apparently lost control, possibly while speeding, and slammed into a tree in a violent impact. A 30-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene inside the truck, while the 30-year-old male driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Investigators said there were no known witnesses other than the person who called 911. The roadway was expected to remain closed for approximately two hours as the investigation continued. Police also noted the driver has a criminal history and a record of traffic and driving violations. The crash is being investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
