Let's review each episode of the cult classic Viva Pinata TV series based on the hit game in (mostly)under 90 seconds!

In Party Parasite, Hudson finds that he's been left candy less by a strange bug he's picked up that's eating his insides. Thus his friends must pull a Fantastic Voyage and discover what this bug is and how to destroy it. As I've said before, I do love shrinking plots, so I was excited to get to this one. Unfortunately, it's another one that's hurt by the two act structure. We're shown what the problem is pretty early on, and just want to get to the part with the shrinking. But because each segment has to be two cleanly divided halves, the first half just kills time until they can time the main focus with the second half. So it's just watching the characters discussing what they're going to do, thankfully with more comedic banter from Doctor Quackberry, with some somewhat funny jokes. Like how instructions for the shrinking machine are printed in a comic book, or how the first iteration doesn't make the subject mini, but gives them a mini. But when they FINALLY shrink down and enter Hudson, things do immediately pick up. I love how his insides are literally paper mache, like you'd expect a pinata to be made of. And I guess this finally confirms that, yes, the pinatas do produce candy from the food they eat. I say as if the rest of the show is going to recognize this as canon. But they do discover the parasite, who is in fact, say it with me, Professor Pester, vacuuming up Hudson's candy for himself. But they have no time to waste with him, as they're notified the shrinking process is already wearing off, and they have to get out of there if they don't want Hudson reduced to recyclables. And this is another reason the two act structure is a bad idea. We've wasted so much time watching them go into Hudson, that their journey inside Hudson is completely rushed, and all we see is his empty stomach area and a quick stop inside his ego, before they have to hightail it out of his mouth. And technically speaking, they don't do anything. They go inside, find the cause, then have to turn right back around and barely make it out in time. Heck, considering they knock out Hudson's teeth, they do MORE damage than if they just didn't go. Besides, Pester just collects his candy and leaves, foiled only by Les disconnecting the candy bin, which at this point, just let him have it! Especially with how we're shown how easy it is to make more. But the very ending does make everything worth it. Yeah, this is one of the weaker shrinking plots I've seen, but I still enjoyed what I got, despite my major problems with it. But if we now know that pinatas do indeed produce candy, isn't them eating candy the equivalent of a human eating their own barf?
