The AR-3 was Heathkits low cost HF Amateur radio receiver that came out in 1957 . I bought one then when I was 15 years old the price as I recall was $27.95 . It was a fun kit to build and my first kit ever . I saw this one on Ebay being sold NOT WORKING and the price was right so I bought it . The AR-3 arrived three days later well packed i found it to be very dirty ,The case was coming apart around the bottom and it did not work as advertised . taking it out of the case I found the controls volume,RF gain ,tuning etc. had not been used for so long that they were frozen . Applying oil with a syringe to the controls and putting on big knobs to get some more torque and the shafts all loosened up nicely . I did do some videos on the Heathkit AR-2 radio some time ago and have I amsure repested some of the things I have done here to the AR-3 . Some things are worth repeating in case someone missed out before . Around 1.5 minutes into this video you hear a ticking or pecking sound I have no idea what this is there was nothing running down here in the Ham man Cave that I can hear so I have no idea what it is ? maybe the AR-3 came with a mouse in it ? 73 and HEATHKITS FOREVER Bob
