Parrot Uncle CF860BQ 60" ceiling fan in barbeque black. Or for the astute viewers, what originated as the Luray Eco from Emerson. So I'm not a really big proponent of these brands that seem to be the equivalent of fast fashion or fast furniture, and personally speaking, I really don't like the name "Parrot Uncle". Full disclosure, they have reached out to collaborate with me, and I have never responded. For the most part I align with the showroom channel and showroom brands on collaborative or promotional content, and this brand currently does not align with what I present in that regard. I bought this fan with my own money during a Black Friday promotion because I was curious about the selection of former Emerson products they are offering, especially if there was any remaining evidence of Emerson branding and the packaging. To that end, the stickers are all the same, just generic print, and the box is blank cardboard with no branding whatsoever. That aside, it's exactly the same, down to the features and controls. If you're going to buy from a brand like this, there is this aspect: that they are offering some of the exact same high-end Emerson products at spectacular price points. The selection and finishes are limited, but most I've seen have been $99 and under, which is absolutely insane. If you know EXACTLY the product you're buying, you can get a great fan for an absolute steal. The issue there, is not everyone knows which products were Emerson, so there's a ton of other stuff that I guarantee is not to the standard that Emerson set in their day, and it's a total toss up for the general public. This is why I don't really align with these brands, there is no particular consistency across the products they source. This one is still a great fan, really nice airflow and the typical Emerson experience. Nice finish quality control, the factory hasn't slipped on that at all. Emerson started doing a lot of the blow-mold style light lenses that I kind of despise near the end of their run. Not a particular fan of that, but for the style it's executed well and works. No light cap included still, but not shown. Normally I'm not big on these kind of "droopy" blade designs that were coming up for a year or two, but this one worked for me. It's modern with a bit of understated elegance to its motion. Worth a look, at prices below home center competition.
A bit of backstory on why this particular fan captured my interest. Over a decade ago now, Emerson's social media team pushed me in front of the camera, and I did my first full-scale product feature with the Crofton fan. They loved it, and there was talk of doing more down the line because they had something particular in the works. The next season, the Luray Eco launched, and I'm fairly certain this was the fan they were talking about at the time. Unfortunately, no further videos ever materialized with Emerson, and in retrospect, it really wasn't long after that the brand started transitioning and ultimately fading away. Had I pushed more at that time, I probably could've made more things happen, but I was green to working with brands and was just thankful for every opportunity that came to me. But it was kind of unfinished business with this fan, and that combined with my curiosity over the selection via Parrot Uncle (plus a great discount) made it the time to grab one.
