Worldwinds Windsurfing, North Padre Island (2017)
Ask windsurfers where the best spots in the country are and Bird Island Basin on North Padre Island keeps coming up. Shallow water, a sandy bottom, and wind with nothing in its way make this half mile stretch of the Laguna Madre one of the top windsurfing locations in the mainland United States.
Worldwinds Windsurfing has been teaching people how to ride that wind since 2000, and they'll get you up and sailing whether you've never touched a board or you've been doing this for years. They also offer kayaking and stand up paddleboarding if windsurfing isn't quite your speed.
Tucked inside Padre Island National Seashore, this is the kind of spot that turns a simple beach day into something you'll want to do again and again.
