Our first port in Norway on my first-ever visit to the country was Olden. From the port, we drove around Olden Lake to get to Briksdal Glacier. While there, we had snacks at the cafeteria and bought souvenirs at the shop. Then we boarded a troll car to get to high-up viewing area of the glacier. The Briksdal Glacier is an arm of the largest glacier in mainland Europe, the Jostedal Glacier. While you can walk to the glacier's viewpoint, it is up steep hills and stairways. We chose the Troll Cars to ride beside the waterfall (we got wet!) and up switchbacks to the drop off. After that excursion, we took another to the Stryn area around Stryn (the town), Stryn Lake and Stryn River for an area of outstanding scenery and beauty. We began at the Jostedalsbreen National Park Center, a nature center with information about the area, a movie, a display of rocks from all parts of Norway and gorgeous lake and mountain views. There is even a turf house. We then drove to a viewpoint to see the valley better and stopped at a few different waterfalls. Norway is a gorgeous place. These excursions promised fabulous scenery and it didn't disappoint. Wow.
