Hey everyone, today I’m going to show you how to perform an oil change on a Honda S2000.
Difficulty: Easy
Estimated time: 30 minutes
Tools necessary:
- Motor Oil (5.5 qts)
- Oil filter and crush washer
- Funnel
- Oil Drain Pan
- 17mm Socket & Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- Oil Filter Socket (Optional)
Steps
1. The first thing you want to do is to warm up the car and get it on jack stands. Warming up the oil will help it drain faster.
2. Remove the oil fill cap and slide your oil drain pan under the car. Use a 17mm socket to loosen the oil drain plug. Position your drain pan carefully so you don’t make a mess when the oil comes flying out.
3. While the oil pan is draining you will want to change the oil filter. Loosen the oil filter until oil starts dripping from it. Once the dripping stops completely remove it.
4. Apply some oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter and then tighten it to 15-18 ft-lbs.
5. Back under the car you will want to replace the crush washer on the oil drain plug with a new one. Then tighten the oil drain plug to 29 ft-lbs.
6. Use a funnel to fill the car with 5.5 quarts of oil. When complete, replace the oil fill cap. If you’d like you can double check the oil level using the dipstick.
7. Lasty, remove the drain pan from under the car, lower the car back down to the ground and clean up your mess.
