Hey everyone! Today I’m going to show you how to replace the differential mounts on a Honda S2000. In this video I’ll be replacing the OEM differential mounts with spoon ones but this video should be applicable for other aftermarket differential mounts and even differential collars.

Difficulty: Intermediate
Estimated time: 2-3 hours

Tools necessary:
- 14mm, 19mm socket: amzn.to/2zQPULo
- Jack Stands: amzn.to/2CKG4ZT
- Jack: amzn.to/2BDjtyW
- 1/2" Torque Wrench: amzn.to/2BlgSwP

Steps
1. The first thing you want to do is get the entire car on jackstands. You’re going to spend a good amount of time underneath the car so make sure you’re comfy.
2. The next thing you want to do is remove the exhaust. Technically you can get the job done without removing the exhaust but in my experience it makes the job so much easier when the exhaust is out of the way. If you need help doing that I’ll have a video linked down below.
3. With the exhaust removed you’ll need to unbolt the rear swaybar bushings. Use a 14mm socket to remove the two bolts holding each swaybar bushing to the body of the car. Once you have unbolted the rear swaybar bushings go ahead and support the differential with a jack.
4. Next, use a 19mm socket to remove the nut fastening each rear differential mount to the differential mount bracket. Then use a 14mm socket to remove the four bolts holding each rear differential mount to the rear subframe. Once these bolts are removed you’ll be able to slide the rear differential mounts around but you won’t be able to remove them yet because they won’t clear the trunk.
5. Move onto the front differential mounts. Use a 19mm socket to remove the nut fastening each front differential mount to the differential mount bracket. Then use a 14mm socket to remove the two bolts holding each front differential mount to the rear subframe.
6. With all the nuts and bolts removed from the front and rear differential mounts you can finally replace the mounts. Slide the rear differential mounts away from the subframe and then lower the jack supporting the differential until there is enough clearance to pull the rear differential mounts out. If you’re still having trouble you can wiggle the differential around to make some room. Insert the new rear differential mounts onto the differential mount bracket. The left and right sides should be noted on the mounts themselves in order to reduce confusion. The front differential mounts should come off without any trouble. Insert the new front differential mounts and orient them so that they are sitting correctly. Now slowly jack the differential back up so that you can insert the rear differential mounts into the rear subframe and also line the front differential mounts up with the rear subframe.
7. Now its time to put things back together. Use a 14mm socket to install the two bolts holding each front differential mount to the rear subframe. If you’re having trouble getting the bolts started, move the jack around until you get them into the right spot. Torque them to 33 ft-lbs. Then use a 19mm socket to reinstall the nut fastening each front differential mount to the differential mount bracket. Don’t forget to include the washer. Torque them to 47 ft-lbs.
8. For the rear differential mounts, use a 14mm socket to install the four bolts holding each rear differential mount to the rear subframe. Again, if you’re having trouble getting the bolts started move the jack around until you get them into the right spot. You should be able to hand tighten the bolts. Torque them to 33 ft-lbs. Then use a 19mm socket to reinstall the nut fastening each rear differential mount to the differential mount bracket. Don’t forget to include the washer. Torque them to 47 ft-lbs.
9. Once the mounts are back into place you’ll have to reinstall the rear swaybar bushings. Use a 14mm socket to install the two bolts holding each swaybar bushing to the body of the car. Torque them to 40 ft-lbs.
10. The next thing you want to do is reinstall the exhaust. If you need help doing that I’ll have a video linked down below.
11. The last you’ll have to do is get the car off jack stands and lower it back down to the ground.
