On Friday, May 11, 2018, multiple Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies, including MCSO's Air One (aka Swamp Fox) responded to the 2300th block of NW 42nd Street in reference to a disturbance involving several subjects; one of which was in possession of an assault rifle which he had pointed at multiple people. Air One arrived and located the subject with the rifle who was later identified as defendant, John Jermaine Christopher (DOB: 10/26/1980). Upon arrival, Air One observed Christopher pointing the rifle at several people on scene. As units arrived, the scene was secured by multiple deputies while Air One kept a visual on the suspect. Air One observed Christopher throw the rifle into a wooded area and then walk back towards the scene. Air One guided units to his location and Christopher was secured. The investigation revealed that victims on scene said Christopher pointed the rifle at them. There was also a victim of a Simple Battery, which was the original cause of the disturbance. After Christopher battered the one victim, he left the location only to return a short time later with the rifle. Upon his return to the location, he kicked the front door open, which caused less than $200 in damage. Air One then directed K-9 Deputy Colton Sullivan to the area where Christopher threw the rifle. During an area article search, K-9 Deputy Sullivan, with the use of his K-9 partner “Adelmo,” located the rifle. Christopher was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Battery and Criminal Mischief. No one was shot during this incident. The only injured party was the battery victim and that person received minor injuries.
