Streetfilms® | NYC’s 6th Ave from 35th Street to Central Park Finally Gets a Protected Bike Lane @StreetfilmsCommunity | Uploaded September 2020 | Updated October 2024, 17 hours ago.
Here's one that New York City bike riders have been asking for, for a very long time!
Sixth Avenue has been a dangerous, wide corridor forever. Over the last ten years there were first standard bike lanes added below 34th Street and piecemeal protected lanes have been added in chunks from Greenwich Village north. But above 35th Street has remained a perilous ride for only the most experience and brave.
That has now changed. NYC DOT made a commitment early this year to install a protected bike lane all the way up to Central Park. And now you can relatively comfortably ride the length of Sixth Avenue.
