Streetfilms® | Advocates in Hell's Kitchen Build a Trash Corral in a Parking Space @StreetfilmsCommunity | Uploaded July 2020 | Updated October 2024, 17 hours ago.
For over a decade, residents in Hell's Kitchen, NYC have been asking the NYC DOT and DOS to find a way to get trash off of the sidewalks (some very narrow) and start having a program or at least a trial period where businesses and residents can put trash in the street - using parking spaces.
Finally, some advocates decided it was time to turn to some tactical urbanism with the curb space being used all over restaurant dining for parklets and create a trash corral with some simple, inexpensive materials.
The sidewalks of NYC are riddled with garbage for 1/2 a day or more on garbage collection days. We can do better.
