#Nomadland is a festival darling, having already won awards at Venice and TIFF, and now captivating audiences in New York. With its string of critical success, it seems like an Oscar shoe-in this year, and it is one of those truly wondrous films that comes around once in a lifetime.
#ChloeZhao, the filmmaker who will tackle Marvel's 'Eternals' in the near future is as authentic a storyteller as you can get. She thrives on realism, often not even casting real actors, but the people who have actually lived the story. Frances McDormand is one of only two real actors in Nomadland, and while her performance is understated, the story of her character 'Fern' is what's important.
In my #NomadlandMovieReview, I address why Zhao is one in a million. Why this is an important story to tell. Why this is the antithetical type of movie making we sadly miss in an era of big blockbusters, and yes... even amazing Marvel Movies.
