Carl Lumbly, perennial actor of the stage and screen sits down with me to talk about the past, present and future of the Comic Book genre, his 20 years in the subgenre, and his role as Isaiah Bradley, and opinion on the Disney+ and Marvel property, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Carl can't talk about much (at the time of the interview) but he does touch on how important this series is in terms of the message it has for the Black community, including having a person of colour pick up the already established mantle as Captain America. Can the world handle a Black Captain American?
We also get a chance to talk about being the first black superhero on network television, Sam Raimi, Gina Torres, and not only voicing the Martian Manhunter for two decades, but returning to the Martian life in Supergirl.
