Today, I face off against Poke In Da Eye World Championship BBQ's Undefeated 11lb Texas BBQ Platter Challenge!
In the fourth episode of my Oklahoma/Texas trip, we’re in Tyler, Texas, at Poke In Da Eye World Championship BBQ & Catering. This place is famous for its award-winning, competition-level smoked meats, and the wall of trophies proves it! Between 1996 and 2010, they earned over 500 awards and were recognized on major competition stages all across the USA. From slow-smoked brisket and tender ribs to juicy turkey and their signature sauces, their food keeps both locals and travelers coming back again and again. With friendly staff, huge portions, and authentic Texas flavor in every bite, Poke In Da Eye has more than earned its reputation as one of East Texas’ top BBQ destinations.
The “Legend Status” 11lb BBQ Platter Challenge features a full rack of St. Louis–style ribs, two pounds of sausage, and one pound each of brisket, burnt ends, smoked chicken breast, smoked turkey breast, and smoked pork tenderloin. On top of that, you must finish six sides of your choice, four slices of toast, a pecan pie, and a banana pudding. I’ve got one hour to take down all this food to earn the $125 meal free, a t-shirt, a hat, and become the very first person on their Wall of Fame!
