📸 Composition Breakdown
Let's break down this image I photographed in Tuvalu, which was featured with National Geographic.
Because it's a landscape photograph, the first thing you'll notice is the level horizon, creating a strong sense of balance.
But my favourite part of the image is the series of beautiful curved lines, which lead your eye into the frame and create a powerful sense of depth through diminishing perspective.
Shooting from an elevated position with a drone allowed me to reveal these patterns in the landscape.
The final ingredient is the couple riding through the scene on a motorbike. Placing them in the foreground adds energy, scale, and a clear focal point that brings the composition to life.
Every strong photograph has an invisible structure beneath the surface. Once you learn to recognise that structure, you'll start creating more compelling images of your own.
