Dr. Nam Kim is an Anthropology Professor and Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the UW-Madison. As an anthropological archaeologist, Professor Kim’s research deals with early complex societies and the significance of the material past for modern-day stakeholders. He is especially interested in humanity’s global history of organized violence and warfare. He has authored several articles and books, and his work has also been featured in various podcast interviews and a documentary. In addition to his ongoing fieldwork in Vietnam on ancient urbanism, he is currently exploring the material history of refugee displacement and resettlement in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.
