What’s the difference between belief and credence? In this video, I explain the central ideas behind my 2019 philosophy PhD dissertation from the University of Notre Dame. I discuss how belief differs from confidence levels and probabilities, why that distinction matters, and what it tells us about rationality, disagreement, and knowledge.
I also talk a bit about what it’s like to write a philosophy dissertation and summarize the main arguments of the project in an accessible, beginner-friendly way.
