Most versions of Pascal’s Wager focus on heaven, hell, and practical self-interest. But what if there were a different kind of wager—one centered on knowledge, truth, and the potential epistemic value of God’s existence?
In this talk, I defend an “epistemic” version of Pascal’s Wager. I argue that if God exists, the potential gains in knowledge and understanding could be enormous—even infinite—and that this may provide epistemic reason to believe in God.
I also compare this version of the wager to the traditional version and explain several advantages it may have.
