Welcome back to the garden here at That 1870s Homestead. I'm Rachel, and today we're tackling a lot of tasks in the garden. It's May 20th, and we've been experiencing unseasonably hot weather, with temperatures soaring into the high 80s. We've also had minimal rain, so the garden needs some extra love.
In this video, I'll be fertilizing various plants with all-purpose Bio-Live and planting cherry tomatoes, among other things. I'll show you my method for planting tomatoes and discuss how the heat affects their growth. We’ll also dive into some companion planting with onions to help with pest control and prepare the raised beds for zucchini, pumpkin, and butternut squash.
