Hey friends, it's Rachel here from the 1870s Homestead, and today's all about getting our hands dirty in the garden. I'm prepping to plant wheat for the first time, and as I rake away the leaves, I stumble upon a bunch of strawberry pups, proving a myth wrong about burying crowns. Then, it's time to sow some spring hard white wheat seeds, aiming for about 25 per square foot, though later I realize they should go deeper. Next up, I'm not being a seed snob as I plant Blue Lake pole beans on a trellis, spacing them about 3 inches apart. Along the way, I share some handy gardening tips, like using wood chips as tools and managing weeds regularly.
