I never thought a free video editor would be half-decent, but yet here we are, finally. There's plenty of free video editors already out there, but the majority of them are intentionally oversimplified to ease the learning curve or to persuade people into ponying up for the fully-featured version.

I've taken quite a liking to CapCut, and it shows quite a bit of promise, but they really ought to add support for exporting video in standard frame rates, and more control over the render settings, formats and codecs.

I'll likely stick with MoviePlus as I've become well-acquainted with it. Still, it's nice to know I have something to fall back on for "complicated" videos that require heavy editing, and use of effects and overlays, like my video review of the AT&T Merlin 410 phone system.

During my testing, I've been able to edit 4K video without using proxies on my older PC, something none of the other video editors I've tried so far have been able to do. Obviously this isn't a professional editor, but I'm still surprised by its feature set and lack of a watermark.

Fun fact for those who actually read video descriptions: the voiceover audio for this video was recorded using an iPhone 4S with an app that outputs the microphone input over the headphone jack which in turn was connected to my PC's line input!
