Ordinarily, I'd never go to the trouble of recording a video of something as dull as a PCMCIA/Cardbus Firewire card, but after reading a great many horror stories of system lockups, blue screens of death, and inexplicably sluggish transfer speeds when adding an external Firewire card to a Thinkpad T61 which wasn't equipped with an internal variant, this proves that it can be done. It seems some models of Firewire cards (specifically those with certain chipsets) refuse to coexist happily with certain Thinkpad models devoid of Firewire from the factory. Included in the box was an archaic copy of Ulead (not even Corel!) VideoStudio SE 7; it was only natural that I'd trouble myself with installing such an antiquated piece of software just to indulge in vain experimentation, exploration, and exploitation of it. Needless to say, it was a fool's errand.
