My Dell Latitude was never meant to run anything newer than Windows 7, yet I was able to get Windows 10 running on it several years ago. Since I can't leave well enough alone, I decided to try my luck again and install Windows 11!
Despite initially trying to perform a clean install, I soon discovered that starting out of the gate with a Windows 7 that had all the drivers and utilities installed before upgrading, made things a lot smoother. Many of the programs and utilities cannot directly be installed in 10 and/or 11 (even with compatibility mode), yet if you have them installed prior to upgrading from Windows 7 to something newer, they work just fine.
There's still a few hiccups every now and again, but all in all, I'm still impressed that a machine as old as this can run Windows 11, despite Microsoft's best efforts to pick and choose which machines can and can't upgrade and run the new OS.
*At 17:52, I couldn't have planned that MiniDV tape glitch any better!
