Part 39 - Argilla Pass to Ionia's house
If you're underleveled like me and Lucas isn't close to learning Lifeup Ω at level 50, you might want to buy a couple of Thunder Pendants in Saturn Valley for Kumatora and Duster to prepare for the next boss. As long as Lucas has learned Lifeup Ω, you shouldn't need to make any special preparations.
Once you pull the next needle, you won't be able to return to Tazmily Village and the surrounding areas. Make sure there isn't anything you want to do before proceeding. The most important thing you shouldn't forget is to receive the Shield Snatcher from a mouse by the Pork Bean highway.
The Heftyhead (13:05) has a small chance of dropping the Mystical Stick, a weapon for Lucas (max HP/PP +10, Offense +90, IQ +5, Speed +5).
Outline:
0:40 - Find the Jar of Yummy Pickles.
4:29 - Get through the mountain cave to reach Ionia's house.
15:30 - Talk to Ionia; talk to her again to rest before the boss fight.
Notes:
0:05 - Make sure Boney has 4 open slots in his inventory.
0:40 - Something hard can be a Made-You-Look, an Enemy Bufferizer, or a Super Bomb.
0:52 - Something delicious can be Nut Bread, a Rotten Eclair, a Peculiar Cheese, or a King Burger (recovers 280 HP).
1:04 - Something soft can be a Fresh Mint, a Recollection Bell, or a Secret Herb.
1:17 - Something small: can be a Pumice, Heavy, or Thud Charm. (Defense +23, +26, and +30 respectively.)
2:12 - If you can't combo and are low on food, buy a few Sincerity Dumplings so that Lucas has enough PP to use PK Love against the enemies ahead.
2:57 - Stay close to the upper cliff face to engage the Blue Balding Eagle by itself.
5:40 - Wall Staples work about 70% of the time against Cuddle Bombs (source: starmen.net).
7:09 - Trying to lure the Cuddle Bomb away from the other.
8:06 - The Goddess Bustier reduces damage from Fire and Freeze by about 20%. To the north is Negative Man, an enemy that has a 2% chance of dropping Meteotite (sell for 2500 DP).
9:03 - The Mystery Metal Monkey awards no experience points and drops only Made-You-Looks. It has only 12 HP, but it's immune to Fire and Freeze.
9:57 - To avoid fighting 5 Sticky Slugs at once, walk slowly through this room and engage a Sticky Slug as soon as one lands. Like the Black Collar, the Striped Collar reduces damage from Fire, Freeze, and Thunder by about 20%.
