Description:
The Triton TRA001 plunge router has arrived and it's one of my favorite tools right from the start. In this video I show the unboxing and also the first usecases in the workshop with the router. Therfore I use it in hand held mode and in a stationary mode in a router table.
The router is very powerful with it´s 2400W (or 3-1/4hp) electronically controlled motor and soft start. The electronic speed maintenance can be set in a range of 8000-21,000 rpm and so can be fit to different cutter types.
You can use it as a plunge router or a fixed base router, with rack and pinion height adjustment. The router is quite heavy and its overall design is mainly for table-mounting and less for hand-held use, but also possible. And there are use cases where the weight is an advantage while using it by hand.
To set the cutting depth you can use the 3-stage turret with direct reading scales for precise cut depths. An additional micro winder can be used to enables continuous fine depth adjustment.
The cutter is supplied with a base extension (e.g. for use with jigs or milling circles), an additional fence for manual operation and a 1/2 "and 12 mm collet chuck.
Here is a video that shows the conversion of my folding workbench into a router table for my Triton TRA001 router. With the rebuild I get a space-saving and mobile solution. See also the Triton TRA001 3D printed base template that I created. Link to the video:
