"More Than I Can Say" was written by two former members of early rock and roll band, The Crickets, who released it as a single in 1960. Leo Sayer, while looking an "oldie" to add to his 1980 Living in a Fantasy album, heard a 1961 Bobby Vee cover and decided to record the song himself. Sayer's gold record version, and the most popular, reached the #2 spot on the Billboard pop chart for 5 weeks, and reached #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart. The hook vocals "Wo-oh-yay-yay," became a memorable part of the song. Leo Sayer is a British singer-songwriter who enjoyed the majority of his chart success in the 1970's and early 1980's. He scored two singles No. 1 in the U.S., "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and "When I Need You", both in 1977.
