"Rock This Town", recorded and released in 1981 by American rockabilly band Stray Cats, peaked at #9 on the UK Singles Chart that same year #9, and #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1982. The band unexpectedly made America aware that rockabilly, previously believed to be extinct, was actually alive and well especially in England where they initially became an instant hit. They spearheaded the rockabilly revival by blending the 1950's sound with modern punk musical elements and visual style with their punk rockabilly clothes. "Rock This Town" was listed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll.
