While touring England as a member of an all girl rock group The Runaways, Joan Jett heard this song performed by the Brit band The Arrows in 1976. She wanted to record it with The Runaways, but the other members didn't like the song. Jett later recorded it with the Sex Pistols in 1979, but it was the recording with her band the Blackhearts in 1981 that turned it into one of the most successful covers in Rock history. It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982.
