To say Pokémon is a big deal would be an understatement. Its rise to become one of the biggest video game franchises there is hasn't been spotless, though, especially not recently. Over its last few "generations", Pokémon's mainline titles have come under fire more often for more things. Which reached a boiling point with Scarlet and Violet's many, very easily noticed issues with visuals, game performance, and a bevy of bugs and glitches. Which has attracted more critics than ever before, wondering how a franchise this big could put out games that feel this sloppy.
So...what went wrong?
Let's look at exactly why modern Pokémon fell into its current slump, how the current games compare to the older titles from our childhoods, and what could (potentially) be done to right the ship. The root problems aren't exactly what they seem, so hopefully this video explains some nuances that aren't brought up as often as they should be.
