About this video: Learning how to use a controller on Minecraft Java Edition allows you to easily transfer from Bedrock as well as make things a lot more accessible if you are use to a controller instead of a keyboard or mouse.
This video is our complete guide on how to play Minecraft Java with a controller, and to start off, you want to download the controller mod. For this video, we are using Controllable, and there is a link to get it in the description above.
On that page, click download and then go to the Files tab. Select the 26.1.2 version for the Fabric mod loader and download it.
You'll also need to repeat that process for the Framework mod. This is a dependency mod that the 26.1.2 controller mod needs to work.
Lastly, you'll need to download and install the Fabric mod loader. This is what actually links the controller mod to Minecraft 26.1.2. Our complete Fabric guide is linked above along with download links.
With Fabric installed, we can move on to installing the controller mod for Java 26.1.2. Open the Minecraft Launcher and go to the Installations tab. Then, find your Fabric installation. Click the folder icon on it, and you should see a “mods” folder. If not, make one.
Now, drag and drop the Controllable mod as well as Framework into your mods folder. Launch Minecraft with Fabric and plug your controller in on the main menu. It's that easy to play Minecraft Java Edition with a controller.
