Day 14
I managed to get the bridge worker to the bridge safely. He was willing to work on the bridge as long as he was paid. Linebeck also still owes the bridge worker for building his house. The total came to 5,000 RUPEES! AND LINEBECK HAD THE NERVE TO SHOVE THE DEBT ONTO ME!
I was ready to give him a piece of my mind, but he told me that we can easily fix the problem by looking for the regal ring hidden here. The regal ring belonged to Linebeck's grandfather. Linebeck also gave me the letter from his grandfather to help find the ring. It was cryptic, but I knew Zelda and I could figure it out.
Linebeck pointed us to a cave nearby that led to his grandfather's grave. He said I should be able to find the ring somewhere around there. There were a few monsters here called like-likes. One of them was hiding in a chest nearby and ATE MY SHIELD! Zelda said I should get another one soon, but I can't afford to get one right now. Although, I did remember seeing an old shield at Niko's place. I'll have to see if I can borrow it.
Anyway, Zelda and I discovered a new song here and strange statues that activate from that specific song if we play it on the Spirit Flute. Did Linebeck's grandfather think that he would have the flute? Zelda told me that she remembered hearing stories about a sea captain who helped her ancestor navigate a place called the Realm of the Ocean King. Was Linebeck's grandfather that sea captain? Who knows?
Zelda and I found another cave and eventually found the regal ring buried in the ground. It's beautiful. It's definitely worth 8,000 rupees! I went back to Linebeck and showed him. He was so happy to see it, but his happiness was cut short when the bridge worker decided to take the ring as payment for the bridge.
Linebeck isn't too happy, but he told me to come by again if I find any other treasures. He said he'll buy treasures from me if I bring them over. Well, I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I find any treasures.
The bridge is complete and now we can head to the Ocean Realm, but first, I wanted to stop at home to get a new shield. I was glad that I remembered correctly, Niko did have a shield at home. He said it belonged to an old friend of his. I did grab a few stamps in my travels and Niko was happy to see them. So, as a reward for getting all of those stamps, he gave me that shield. It suits me perfectly! Niko also said it won't detach easily so nothing can rip it off my back.
